Personal Note - March 2002

Spring 2002

Dear Friends,

Spring is a time of rebirthing and rejuvenation of life, especially nature. The flowers bloom, the birds sing and the bees buzz. People become more active, as they start more outdoor activities, like walking jogging, biking and rollerblading. All of this exercise is not only great fun, but also promotes weight loss, improves the circulatory system and strengthens and tones muscles. It is important to enjoy yourself for the body needs to come alive in the spring, just as the flowers do.

In the spring some people become busy as bees, doing their spring cleaning, opening windows and doors, as they air out their homes. The change curtains, wash walls and floors, all in preparation for a rebirth. They are taking good care of and displaying pride in their physical homes.

We are doing all of these things to facilitate the care of our temples. The house is a temple that protects the body from the elements and the body is a temple that houses the soul. We take time and pride in addressing our physical atmosphere and environment. But what about the requirements of our souls in the springtime? Our souls are housed in these beautiful bodies, but they also need attention, nourishment and cleansing. Too many of us take our spiritual requirements for granted, until we find ourselves low on spiritual energy, self-esteem and possibly even losing our identities.

Many people find themselves confused or in denial of their soul and spiritual needs. They have lost their sense of direction and focus. One way to regain our sense of soul is to take time in one of the greatest "Graces" God has given us...Sunlight. God gives us this light not only to see, but also to help ourselves rejuvenate, heal, grow and blossom just like the plants that are planted in the spring. Everyday it is watered and fertilized until the seed becomes a plant. This new plant breaks through the soil to reach its destination, the sunlight. With the help of the sunlight, water and fertilizer this small plant grows over the coming days to become a fertile plant bearing tomatoes. This one little seed has now grown into a life supporting plant.

Our souls are just like this tomato plant. We all start out with the seed of God within us. Then as we physically grow and develop, hopefully we are allowing this internal seed to germinate and blossom.

We are all God's children, therefore we all possess the seed which turns into the light of the Lord within us. This light is our Eternal Soul reflection of God. The light grows within us, as we allow the light in and let the light out, by spreading peace, love and light to others. Do unto others as you would want them to do to you. Treat yourself with love, light and respect and you will now know how to treat others. This is the way of the light.

I would like to share a Sunlight meditation with you. This meditation will give your soul the nourishment and cleansing it so needs.

Find a quiet spot in the sunlight. Imagine there is a door on the crown (top of your head) and open it.
See a ray of golden yellow sunlight enter.
Feel through the doorway and travel into your head, flowing through your head and traveling to the bottom of your feet.
Take your time, allowing the light into each cell, tissue and organ.
Take deep, slow and gentle breaths, relaxing and releasing, as the energy travels into your entire body.
When the light has reached the bottom of your feet, open the doors at the bottom of your feet and let the sunlight out.
Now invision or feel yourself becoming a river of glowing, beaming golden sunlight.
Feel the warmth and love flow in and around you.
Notice your breath, as you are breathing vibrant, brilliant sunlight.
Now the sunlight expands with each breath, expanding one inch with each breath, until the light expands to twelve feet around you.
Now you have become a ray of sunlight, like Princess Fiona in Shrek, when she transpired into her true soul.
Relax in the sunlight for a moment, releasing all of your physical, emotional and psychological pain and discomfort, into the river flowing from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet.
All stress, pain and discomfort are being washed away and are now being replaced with healing, life affirming sunlight.
Take your time, slowly giving it all up.
When you feel ready, take three deep breaths and smile, for now you have cleansed and nourished your soul.
Welcome to the Light Side of Your Life.

Repeat this as often as possible.

Peace, Love and Light
